Anti-Bullying

This page provides useful information on bullying, as well as links to websites which can provide help or advice.

What is Bullying?

Bullying can mean many different things. These are some ways children and young people have described bullying:

•being called names
•being teased
•being pushed or pulled about
•having money and other possessions taken or messed about with
•having rumours spread about you
•being ignored and left out
•being hit, kicked or physically hurt in any way
•being threatened or intimidated

Bullying can also be part of other forms of abuse, including neglect, emotional, physical or sexual abuse.

Bullying can take place in school, out of school, online or via text messaging (also known as Cyberbullying).

Safe from Bullying Online Pupil Survery for Secondary School Pupils

This easy to use online pupil survery will provide valuable evidence of the extent to which children and young people feel safe from bullying in school. The survery is based on the model survery produced by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, but has been enhanced to cover all the school anti-bullying questions from the past Tellus, Kirkland Rowell and NFER surverys.

It will enable professionals to make comparisons with existing data and easily gather new data to help plan effective strategies, develop action plans and review how well anti-bullying policies are working. It also provides a useful tool for broader work on emotional health and wellbeing and attainment. The survery will be open from the first of November and can be included in work to support Anti-Bullying Week (15-19 November 2010). However it can also be used at any other time until the end of the Autumn Term 2010.

If you wish to participate please contact Jenny Brooks email c-jbrooks@buckscc.gov.uk The survey has been designed for Key Stages 3 / 4 / 5 students, however of you are interested in participating with Key stage 2 children please contact Jenny Brooks.
