Aims:

To raise awareness of the effect of neglect on children’s development

Objectives:

  • To discuss the effects of neglect on children’s development
  • To consider how parental mental ill health, domestic abuse and substance misuse can affect parenting capacity and lead to neglect.
  • To discuss how to assess neglect, this will include an overview of the Graded Care Profile.
  • To identify how to respond to cases of neglect

Intended for:

Members of staff, from all disciplines, who have had the introduction to child protection training within their own agencies and have attended the ‘Working Together’ or ‘Everyone’s Responsibility’ course.
