BSCB Training

The BSCB, in line with the Children's Act 2004, sets minimum standards for the provision of all Child Protection Training across the childrens workforce (this covers the statutory, voluntary and private sectors)

Statutory agencies have a responsibility, under Section 11 of the Children's Act, to ensure that all relevant staff and volunteers are trained to the required level, and to provide refresher / update training.

Mandatory induction sessions, and single agency training sessions, are provided by all the BSCB Partner Agencies (for a complete list of the BSCB partner agency membership, please click on the About the BSCB tab)

Both levels of training must be undertaken (and evidenced) before the BSCB inter-agency training programme can be accessed.

Below is the BSCB training pathway. This should assist you in identifying the appropriate level of child protection training for your role. Please note, any training undertaken via the BSCB must only be done so with the agreement of your line manager.

BSCB Inter-Agency Training Programme 2011/12

The BSCB training programme is for practitioners and volunteers who work predominately with, or who are in regular contact with, children and young people.

Those wishing to apply for the training must begin by undertaking either the 'Everyone's Responsibility' (1 day) or 'Working Together' (2 day) course - the BSCB Training Pathway will guide you as to which of these initial courses is most suitable for your role.

Following the completion of the initial course, applicants will be able to apply for the BSCB Specialist Courses.

Please note, anyone wishing to apply for a BSCB Inter-Agency Training Course must ensure that they read (and understand) the Cancellation / Change of Delegate policy, as your agency may be charged.
