Supporting Vulnerable Young People in Buckinghamshire

R U Safe? works from the premise that young people under the age 18 who are being sexually exploited, are being abused. The service aims to reach out to vulnerable young people by providing a holistic package of care delivered through Assertive outreach, drop-ins and preventative groups/programmes.

The service works with young people to promote safety, healthy relationships, reduce risky behaviour and increase self worth and self-esteem, so as to raise their aspirations and enable them into making positive choices for the future. The work also involves encouraging and supporting young women in exiting harmful relationships, to which they can fall extremely vulnerable to.

The direct work includes, but is not limited to, a range of activities, programmes and opportunities that assist in addressing their diverse and complex needs. R U Safe? have a client centred approach and each young person will be assessed on their individual circumstances.

R U Safe? work closely with Thames Valley Police so as to provide a service to young people, aged between 11 to 18, who have returned home after being reported missing - young people who have missing episodes are vulnerable to Sexual Exploitation.

The R U Safe? Team also provide training and awareness raising sessions for multi–agency working with young people through out Bucks County. This aims to promote professional awareness in identifying key risk indicators in young people, as well as planning appropriate and realistic support packages.
