Short awareness raising sessions are designed to provide a more accessible way of accessing learning and development opportunities.

All sessions are FREE OF CHARGE to attend but places are limited so you will need to book your place (places are offered on a first come, first served basis).

Introduction To The Role Of The LADO

Aims: To provide an introduction to Buckinghamshire County Council’s Local Authority Designated Officer Service in order to develop understanding of employer responsibilities, including complying with the BSCB ‘Managing Allegations against Staff and Volunteers Working with Children’ Procedures.

Objectives: By the end of the course participants should be able to:

Know when to contact the LADO

Understand the LADO process

Understand employer responsibilities

List allegation outcomes.

Intended For:  This workshop is for designated managers who are responsible for reporting concerns and managing allegations against professionals.

Duration/Time: 1.5 hours – 9.30am (prompt start) to 11.00am.

Improving Practice For Child Protection Conferences And Core Groups

Aims: To provide an overview of the expectations placed upon all professionals invited to attend Child Protection Conferences in Buckinghamshire, developing delegate confidence and best practice knowledge. These sessions are open to colleagues working within any agency in Buckinghamshire.

Objectives: By the end of the course participants should be able to:

Understand how cases get to Conference

Describe the Child Protection Conference process

Be confident in decision-making and thresholds

Understand responsibilities for all professionals in attending conference, providing written reports and what to include

Understand Core Group responsibilities

Comprehend trends, facts and figures in Buckinghamshire.

Intended For: Professionals who attend Child Protection Conferences, including regular attendees and those who are new to Buckinghamshire Conferences.

Please note, this training is not appropriate for those who have completed their DSL training provided by the Education Safeguarding Advisory Service since September 2017.

Duration/Time: 2 hours – 11.30am (prompt start) to 1.30pm.

Child Protection Conferences – Your Agency’s Responsibility (For Managers Only)

Aims: These sessions are aimed at Managers of front-line professionals who are involved in Child Protection Conferences. They are open to colleagues working within any agency in Buckinghamshire. The workshop will be an opportunity to explore ways you can support effective practice in relation to Child Protection Conferences within your agency. You will also be able to share your own experiences, including any challenges or barriers to effective practice.

Objectives: By the end of the course participants should be able to:

Understand how cases get to Conference

Be confident in supporting their staff to be prepared for Conference

Understand responsibilities for all professionals in attending conference, providing written reports and what to include

Comprehend trends, facts and figures in Buckinghamshire

Describe their agency barriers when adhering to the Child Protection Procedures and have identified solutions to take forward.

Intended For: Managers of staff who may be involved in child protection conferences.

Duration/Time: 2 hours – 2.30pm (prompt start) to 4.30pm.
